Diamond Club West Coast elects new president
MARCH 15, 2010: The Diamond Club West Coast in Los Angeles has elected vice president Nikhil Jhaveri as its new president. He replaces former president David Marcus, who held the position for almost 10 years.
Prior to the election, Mr. Marcus served on the Executive Committee of the WFDB. Mr. Jhaveri will now take up his spot on the committee.
The new office holders at the Diamond Club West Coast includes: Nikhil Jhaveri, President; Rahul Parikh, Vice President; Moshe Salem, Vice President; Kevork Aposhian, Treasurer; and Jim Vernon, Secretary. Members of the bourse’s Board of Directors are Antranig Ayvazian; Neil Aronow, Joseph Bronner, Lisa Eitani, Raymond Gould, Mervyn H. Hahn, Morris J. Kohan, David Marcus, Lon Stein and Bob Wiener.
At a club luncheon after the election, Mr. Jhaveri praised the accomplishments of Mr. Marcus, who served as president of the Diamond Club West Coast since 2001.
David Marcus was born in Israel and began polishing diamonds at the age of 16. In his early 20s, he moved to Los Angeles. He was a founding member of the Diamond Club West Coast when it was created in 1979 and has served on its board ever since. Mr. Marcus served as the club’s treasurer from 1986 and was elected president in 15 years later. At the 32nd World Diamond Congress in Tel Aviv, he was appointed to the WFDB Executive Committee.
