WFDB mourns the death of Yitzhak Forem, WFDB president 1998-2000

September 1, 2010: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) is mourning the death of former president Yitzchak Forem, who passed away on September 1 after a prolonged illness.

Mr. Forem served as president of the Israel Diamond Exchange between 1993 and 1998, and as WFDB president from 1998 to 2000.

WFDB greets agreement on Zimbabwe diamond exports as a convincing victory for the Kimberley Process

July 18, 2010: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses has welcomed the agreement reached by the Kimberley Process on Thursday, calling it “a convincing victory for the Kimberley Process.” The agreement, which was finalised in St. Petersburg, during the 7th Annual Meeting of the World Diamond Council,will enable to Zimbabwe to carry out supervised exports of diamonds from its Marange deposit in the east of the country.

WFDB concludes 34th World Diamond Congress, urges responsible trading practices following global crisis

JULY 13, 2010: The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has concluded its meetings at the 34th World Diamond Congress in Moscow, calling on the industry to internalise the lessons learned during the global financial crisis of the past 18 months, during which time diamond dealers reduced significantly the volume of goods being sold on consignment and also cut the standard periods for which terms of credit are extended.

34th World Diamond Congress opens in Moscow, with South Korean bourse accepted as 29th WFDB member

JULY 12, 2010: The 34th World Diamond Congress has opened at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Moscow, Russia. During its first working session, the General Assembly elected its officers for the coming two years, and accepted the South Korean Diamond Exchange as the organisation’s 29th member. In addition, Avi Pas was unanimously re-elected to a second, consecutive term as WFDB President.
