Open letter regarding over grading certification
November 19, 2014:

Colleagues and friends,

The diamond industry is facing a serious challenge to its integrity which could lead to major consumer confidence problems, if diamonds are sold with overstated certification. I want to stress that this is an industry problem that must be resolved by the industry in order to retain consumer confidence in our product and sustain and develop the international diamond trade.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I am pleased to report that the WFDB’s Presidents’ Meeting, hosted by the Borsa Istanbul, was incident free and generated positive results. The venue was spectacular which contributed to good working conditions. The social events hosted, a dinner cruise on the Bosphorus and a gala dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel on the banks of the Bosphorus, were superb. Photographs of the meetings as well as the social events will be available for viewing on the WFDB website.

As we have reached the mid-year period I would like to wish our friends in the northern hemisphere countries a good and well deserved safe vacation.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Presidents and Colleagues,

please allow me to extend my best wishes to you for the year ahead.

2012 saw a number of challenges and alas I believe we will see the supply and price of rough remaining under pressure during the coming year. It is however encouraging to hear that some of the major markets, such as the USA, have seen an increase in retail sales during the festive season and should this trend continue, it will be of great benefit to our sector.
